what is best way of finding a room studio flat without internet?
Q. please help me I need a room or a small studio flat in London, but I don't like gum tree and all those web site, so do you know any good honest agency In London?

A. Have a look at www.rightmove.co.uk

This allows you to search properties for rent or sale and you can select studio only, specify a budget and select your area on post code etc.

Its independent and most estate agents put their properties on here.

Other than the internet have a look in local papers, usually they have a property supplement one night of the week.

Good Luck

Does a student who lives in a studio flat pay council tax?
Q. I'm confused - if the STUDIO flat room is only occupied by a student, but it is in a building of flats with other residents in the other flats, does the student have to pay council tax on their studio flat??

A. A studio is normally self contained (ie has it's own bathroom and kitchen) and is not a single room in a house share, so this means yes, you normally pay council tax.
It doesn't matter if there are other studios or flats in the building, if all of them are self contained, then each one pays council tax. For example, I live in a small flat, but my flat is in a building with other flats. We all pay our own council tax.

If you rent a room in a house or flat share but *share* the kitchen, bathroom and living room, then the house pays council tax and it's split between all of you.

However, IF your a full time student, you can be exempted from paying it. You need to call the council and inform them your a student, and they will ask for proof.

Does this explain everything?

EDIT: Oh, one last thing, if you don't qualify for the student exemption, if your living by yourself you can claim what is called a single person discount on your council tax bill, so look into that as well.

If you go to your local council website, they should have all the information there.
