Would it be a bad idea to invent a city for my novel?

Q. I can't seem to find the right location for my novel on the USA -.- but I thought that if I invented one on a real state or city, it would be better. People like true areas, cities that exist etc. So, would it be a bad idea to create a new city or town etc etc etc?

A. Two things here:

1) Real locations aren't perfect. Your story will be more realistic if we get the impression that it's set somewhere which might exist, rather than somewhere that has all the locations your characters want to go to conveniently positioned, always available parking and so on.

2) It depends how big it is. Creating a small town - no problem. There are loads of small towns I haven't heard of. Suspension of disbelief is easy. But asking me to ignore that the huge state-capital-size city you've invented really doesn't exist is another matter. Works better if your story isn't set in the present - Gotham City might exist one day :)

what are the taxes for mortgage in the USA?
Q. How much are the taxes for mortgage? does the bank finance 100% of the real state? could I rent it and get back 1% / month ?

In Brazil, the banks have several ways to protect themselves and they do not give credits to everyone, it's hard to get a house, for example.

A. Here in the US Real Estate Taxes are determined by local laws. They are based on a certain percentage (varies in states) of the County Appraiser's estimate of value of your home. Then that amount, minus the HomeOwners Exemption typically 25%, is multiplied by the mileage rate (varies) to calculate the RE taxes. All the mortgage company does is include these taxes in your mortgage payment, which are kept in a separate non interest bearing account - an escrow account. When the taxes are due the mortgage company pays them out of your escrow account. The mortgage company does it this way to be certain taxes on homes they have financed are paid. Sounds complicated and probably is for you, Ask some of your friends and then you can ask questions.

Can a foreign invest in real state with a b1b2 visa ?
Q. I am a foreign that want to buy ( invest ) in real state at the usa , can i do it ?
what would be my inmigrant status , i have in mind to buy 3 -4 houses , then sell or rent

A. you can buy property/real estate in USA. but it won't change your b1b2 visa - a temporary non-immigrant status to immigrant status. owning a property in USA doesn't give you any benefit on your immigration status
besides, you will violate your non-immigrant visa /b1b2 visa status if you earn income by renting your property.
