Is Turkey property a good overseas real estate investment?

Q. We are thinking of buying property for sale in Turkey. Our property search in Turkey may include villa, apartment and land properties for sale in Belek, Side, Alanya, Antalya, Kemer regions. What region is better for buying investment Turkey Property and is buying a turkey villa or turkish apartment for rental worth the while.

A. A lot depends upon whether and when Turkey joins the EU. I think it will, but not as soon as many would like. Once Turkey is in the EU, I think prices will rise, so if you buy now - as long as you buy well - you could make a good investment.

I do not know the market in Turkey, but I do know that you should never buy a property without seeing it at least twice. I personally would never buy in a country where I do not speak the language, because inevitably you have to sign documents you cannot understand. I buy to let in the UK because I understand the law here, and when I want to holiday abroad, I rent.

Do you speak Turkish ? If so, find some Turkish websites and get as much information as you can, and then go to Turkey and look at some properties. If you don't speak Turkish, I'd advise against it.

Q. Hi im looking to move to the US from the UK. I have family in California so we are moving there to start off but i would eventually love to live in New York. Which is more expensive to live? In terms of housing and just general living costs?

A. New York and California cities on:

Top 10 most expensive places to live Beverly Hills, California 90210 is not even on the list!

1. New York, NY
More than 18 million people live in the tiny city making for an extremely populated New York City and making for an even more expensive real estate market. Housing costs are nearly four times more expensive than the national average, yet the actual square footage is just a fraction of what its worth when compared to other locales. Everything is pricier in Manhattan, from groceries, to hotel accommodations and entertainment. Average rent for an apartment is $2,800 and average real estate starts at a cool $1.8 million in the less affluent boroughs, according to real estate search site, Trulia. Average price per square foot for NYC is about $1,194, an increase of 7.3 percent since the same time last year. Popular neighborhoods include the Upper East Side and Upper West Side, with average listing prices of $2.5 million and $1.9 million.

2. Malibu, CA
Los Angeles is already brimful of celebrities and luxury, but Malibu gives the county a run for its money with average home prices going for $7.1 million. But how could you turn down the sunshine and hopes of running into residents like Pamela Anderson, Sting, Mel Gibson, and so many more.

3. White Plains, NY
Just a 30 minute drive from the big city, White Plains shows off the benefits of NYC but with a small-town feel. The city is known for its deep-rooted culture and its downtown area features great shopping. The pricey real estate options are perfect for those who work at area businesses like Nokia, Heineken USA, AT&T and Verizon.

5. San Francisco, CA
With so many nooks and crannies to unearth in the City by the Bay, San Francisco is located close enough to Silicon Valley and many important tech headquarters to top our list. Pricey cocktails, dining, shopping and entertainment also make SF one of the most expensive cities in the nation.

Q. my moral vaues are the basics no stealing, telling the truth and thats really it !

A. What are your moral values? Elaborate please.

ETA: There are several jobs that makes lots of money but that would respect your moral values. You could be a doctor, work in real estate, go into business for yourself, work in law (not all lawyers lie). Anything you want.

Maybe try taking one of those career quizes and see if it will help you narrow down your search:http://quiz.ivillage.com/uk_work/tests/career.htm
