Q. Am i automatically a citizen of South Korea if my parents were born in South Korea but i was born in America. By the way im Full Korean or u can say im Korean american but ya my dad told me that im automatically a citizen when i turn 18 but i dont believe him haha so i just want to make sure if hes tellin da truth.
A. There are largely three ways obtaining Korean citizenship: General naturalization, simplified naturalization, and special naturalization.
First, general naturalization. There are five requirements:
1. Maintain a legal address for five years in Korea
2. Must be an adult, according to Korean law (= 20 years old)
3. Must have clean and orderly behavior (= no criminals or those with communicable disease)
4. Must have the ability to support oneself, or must have other family members who can support the whole family (usually proven by a professional license, real estate deeds, or a bank account with at least $30,000)
5. Must have basic Korean language ability and knowledge about Korean culture (involves written test and an interview the test is around fourth grade level.)
The only real difficulty in general naturalization is maintaining legal address in Korea for five years, because realistically, the only way to legally stay in Korea for five years is to have a job in Korea one cannot maintain an address in Korea for five years with tourist visa. But compared to U.S. immigration law, the requirements are surprisingly lax. There is no quota for immigrants, or any requirements as to the type of jobs one may have. The person only has to legally live in Korea for five years.
Second, simplified naturalization. Since having legal address for five years is the most difficult part, certain people in the following can get around it. Namely:
1. If one of your parents was a Korean citizen. (Emphasis on was. Its ok if your parent renounced Korean citizenship.)
2. If you were born in Korea, and one of your parents was born in Korea.
3. If you are an adult adoptee of a Korean citizen.
People under 1 through 3 only have to maintain legal address in Korea for three years. But there are more categories of people who can apply for simplified naturalization.
4. If your spouse is Korean, and maintained legal Korean address for two years while being married
5. If your spouse is Korean, and stayed married for three years, while maintaining legal Korean address for one year
6. If you could not meet the requirements of items 4 or 5 because the spouse died, went missing, or the marriage could not continue through no fault of the person, and you filled the years requirements without being married
7. If you could not meet the requirements of items 4 or 5, but is raising or will raise a minor child out of the marriage, and you filled the years requirement without being married.
Again, the Korean would say this is pretty generous compared to the U.S., especially items 2, 3, and
Third, special naturalization. Every requirement under general naturalization, except clean and orderly behavior, is waived if:
1. One of your parents is Korean citizen. (Unless you are an adult adoptee.)
2. You contributed greatly to Korea, subject to the Presidents approval.

Anybody know what happened on Buford Hwy this afternoon (for those from Atlanta)?
Q. Right near the intersection with Beaver Ruin, there was a big section gouged out of the road. The cops had cordoned off the entire incoming lane. I was driving the other way and went right by them. There was a big truck with hazardous materials/waste on the side. There was also a WSB-TV chopper hanging out in the area.
Anybody know what happened? I can't find anything in the news.

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. -- Rescue crews recovered the body of a man who became trapped in a trench Tuesday afternoon.
Man Killed In Trench Collapse
It happened at about 2:20 p.m. on Trammel Road near Buford Highway, Forsyth County Fire Capt. Jason Shivers said.
Officials identified the victim as Aaron Banks, 20, of Covington.
Shivers said the 20-year-old man was buried under dirt. At one point, Shivers said, the man was completely covered. He was later pronounced dead, officials said.
The man was working in the area when the trench collapsed, Shivers said.
"The soil is very unpredictable," Shivers told Channel 2 Action News reporter Eric Philips.

http://www.wsbtv.com/news/index.html Buford Highway is an international community along and on either side of Buford Highway in metro Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Unlike ethnic neighborhoods in older American cities, such as New York City's Chinatown, Buford Highway is multi-ethnic and suburban, rather than mono-ethnic and urban. Immigrants who relocated to Atlanta, similar to other sun belt cities, took a path that went straight to the suburbs, where residential and commercial real estate was affordable and where many second-generation immigrant communities were already established. Thus, on Buford Highway, there are few wholly distinct ethnic areas, with the more than 1,000 immigrant-owned businesses of various ethnic groups sharing the neighborhood's retail space, workers and patrons.
The community's inhabitants are immigrants from all over the world, making Buford Highway home to one of the highest concentration of foreign-born residents in the country. The neighborhood is famous among Atlantans for the different types of ethnic restaurants and businesses, most notably Korean, Mexican, Chinese and Vietnamese, but also Indian/South Asian, Central American, Ethiopian, and many others. The community's multi-ethnic composition motivated the DeKalb County Chamber of Commerce to deem the area the "International Corridor

Officers will set up in the parking lot of the Methodist Church on the northbound side and in the driveway of a dentist's office on the southbound side. It's a blind curve in both directions. Just past the church and continuing to Buford Hwy the speed limit drops to 35 from 45. Radar is more often run on the south side as folks coming from Buford tend not to notice the signs and traffic is always tight. Be careful. Frequent DUI checks in the same location.

How to get Korean citizenship?
Q. hello i am a us citizen (although i originate from Iraq) and i want to move to south Korea and become a permanent resident their so how can i get the south Korean citizenship and do they allow multipul one i have an iraqi and an american one too
A. South Korea has highly restrictive citizenship requirements. First, you must carry a legal address in South Korea for at least five years. Having a job based in South Korea will definitely help with this. In addition, you must also be at least 20 years old, have a clean criminal record, and show proof of the ability to support yourself financially.
Instructions
1
Contact the Korean Immigration Service and request an application for citizenship.
2
Fill out the Korean Citizenship application including your name, legal address in Korea, and age. You will also need to show that you have a clean criminal record, a professional license, and proof of wealth in the form of a bank statement showing at least 30,000 U.S. dollars or a real estate deed.
3
Complete and pass a written test provided by the Korean Immigration Service to show a general understanding and knowledge of Korean culture and language at a minimum fourth grade mastery.
4
Send all completed forms and tests to the Korean Immigration Service. The application process can also be done online by visiting the Korean Immigration Service website.
