Q. I work from home and my business literally takes up 2 out of 4 bedrooms, plus my 10 x 12 storage unit I had built. Can I have the business pay a portion (maybe 25%) of my monthly mortgage. Kinda like a rent schedule. Thanks
A. Well I suppose it will depend on the tax regulations in your country, but my accountant here in the UK always put in a rental charge for a room used as an office on my tax returns.
So I don't see why you could not charge the business a rental for the rooms and building that you use, might be a good idea to check with a legal person first.

Can I drive in America with a UK license?
Q. I'm going on holiday with some friends in June, we're planning a road trip from east coast to west, we'll only be in America for two weeks. I was just wondering if i could drive there with my UK license and if yes do I need to fill out some forms?
A. Yes you can drive here as a visitor with your home country license, same as we drive in the UK when visiting. No special forms. Just book your car rental as you would anywhere. Just FYI and I'm sure you are already aware, its quite a drive from east coast to west coast, 2 weeks isn't alot of time but if thats all you plan to do then fly back to the UK from the west coast that works. Have a great trip.
Add'l info re: automatics ALL rental cars are automatics here in the U.S unfortunately. I've driven a manual all my life and I too have problems driving an automatic, you tend to want to shift it and do terrible things to the transmission :) However, cross country is alot of highway driving you'd be in 5th or 6th gear most of the time any way so not a big difference there but you will miss having a manual going through the mountain areas. As someone else mentioned, yes driving here is a piece of cake though only do watch out for people not paying attention, thats more common here than in Europe. Europeans tend to be much more mindful of what is going on around them.

How best to advertise my new Italian holiday home website?
Q. I am based in the UK and am providing a holiday home service which allows people primarily in the UK and the rest of the world to rent properties in Italy for short periods (holiday rentals)
The website is ready, I would greatly appreciate any launch ideas besides Google Adwords. 500GBP budget.

A. The most effective way to get free targeted visitors to your domain name is by writing and submitting articles. You can write short articles on the topic related to the product that you promote. At the end of the article, you include your author bio and your domain name link.
You will then submit your articles to http://www.cybershimla.com and allow them to publish your articles as long as your link is included. Your articles will get published in many places on the Internet, and will be advertising your website link at no cost to you whatsoever. People will read your articles, like what you have to say and click on your domain name link and visit your site.

Are there any legal restrictions for renting a room in the US to a citizen from the UK & other countries?
Q. I have had several responses for a room rental in my home in North Carolina for citizens from other countries who want to come to the US & are doing different kinds of humanitarian & research work projects. Some are planning to bring their car. What guidelines & laws should I be aware of?
A. You can rent to anyone, there are a few towns that tried to pass laws making it illegal to rent to illegals but they were shot down by the US Supreme court so there are no laws as to who you can rent to that will hold up in a court of law,but you do have to follow regular zoning laws
