What is the main cause of US economic depression?

Q. Well some say it was the oil demand and prices, others say its the real state thing or the war. What is what you think is the cause or causes?
Hello. All the answers here make a lot of sense to me. Thank you. Now I get I better idea of what's thought to be going on. And for the guy at the bottom. I wish to now more about politics and economy to hmmm, maybe get myself involved but thank you, your answers has helped me understand. Thank you.

A. Banks lending money to people who can't pay it back. A war we shouldn't be in that we can't afford. The government taxing small businesses for stupid things. Spending trillions of dollars while already in debt. People fearing the worst and spending less money. Businesses making less money and therefore laying off more people. Less people spending less money meaning less businesses making less money. Endless cycle.

It's multiple things. Of course, one or two things could've set it off, but it's an array of problems.

How is the real conditon of our economy?
Q. As a proud Democrat I ask, what's up with only VP Biden being the only one making true public statements about the real state of our economy??? when is P Obama giving the State of the Union?

A. Generals, CEOs, and national leaders are hired to tell us "everything is good/OK and getting better." That's what we want to always hear and we vote for whoever is the most convincing when telling us that.

Question on any filipinos or american in the US regarding wire transfer?
Q. Can please let me know what is the procedure of sending money more than $10,000 dollars overseas? Are we going to be subjected to red flag or Anti Money Laundering Act if we send large transaction. We are trying to purchase a house overseas, and trying to wire the money to the real state company. What is the easiest way to do to pay our downpayment?

A. Wire transfer is best and you may be subjected to a "red flag" but if it is all legitimate, why worry ?

What might be the benefit in buying a "pre-foreclosure" property (land) - if there's any?
Q. I'm looking at a few acres of land in Florida that are being advertised as "pre-foreclosure" as though this is a big deal or somethiing? Any benefits in buying land pre-foreclosure above foreclosed property? I'm not in the States so not 100% familiar with US real estate terminology. Thanks.

A. "Pre-foreclosure" means that the foreclosure process has been started, but the property has not been foreclosed upon yet. So what has happened is the owner is not making the payments, but the bank does not own the land yet.

I would be skeptical, seems a bit sketchy advertising something as a pre-foreclosure sale. And there is plenty of undevelopable land in Florida, so be careful.
