Q. My mother needs an apartment in the Bronx or Manhattan because my mother dosen't like the Queens or Brooklyn. It has to have 3 bedrooms because it's a big family. This is where you want to go and apply for vouchers...it is likely they are all used up, so she will have to get on a waiting list...if this is the case, there really is nowhere else she can go to get Section 8 housing in either of those boroughs..

How would an S Corporation be considered by Section 8 Subsidized Housing?
Q. I am trying to find out if the ownership of and distributions from a S Corporation affect the amount of earnings that one has to report for section 8 subsidized housing. the business is real estate so the income is irregular, the only point of the corp is to stabilize the income.
A. You are self employed and not eligable for section 8.

A. No, what will bring down your home value is trashy people. People on assistance are not necessarily synonymous with trash.
As a landlord, you are able to impose your own requirements and conditions on section 8 tenants, so long as they are within fair housing guidelines. Me, I require they have at least average credit with no outstanding debt in collections, other than medical debt. I require they have no evictions for the past 5 years, and that, along with the money provided through section 9 and their household income, they have 3 times the monthly rent coming into the household.
With that in place, I don't have hardly any problems, and as the other answerer mentioned, you wouldn't be able to pick out which of my tenants received assistance if you tried.
