Q. We live in Ohio, and are searching for a house for rent, not an apartment. What is the best way to go about searching homes for rent? We can find plenty of apartments for rent, and houses for sale, but we are having a hard time finding houses for rent.
A. Also you might want to check Craigslist. I find it superbly helpful but I also know other people have had problems with spam on there. It may be worth a try :) I've subletted quite a few apartments on there so I know the housing section works pretty well.

What is a good, safe site to search on for rental properties?
Q. My family is trying to move out of state, from Oregon to Montana. We've been using Craigslist so far, but today we got scammed by a person who wanted to see our credit report before she would give us the address. Since we'd now like to avoid using Craigslist, I need a different site to search for houses for rent. Any suggestions?
A. If you want to make sure your credit history and rental deposits are being handled legally and by licensed people, you should be able to contact a real estate company in Montana that handles rental properties also. They will be glad to send you lists of available rental properties and you know you are not dealing with scam artists. Good luck.
